Welcome to Allison Fahey's Hero Page
My name is Allie Fahey. I live in Cumming, Georgia with my husband (and Milton High School Sweetheart) of 12 years; my children Harry (7) and Annie (5); and our beloved pit bulls, Abbey Road and Lyla. I work as a Regional Sales Associate for New York-based jewelry designer Mignonne Gavigan, who also happens to be my bestie. My husband and I are proud to be University of Georgia DAWGS, too!
My animal advocacy began as soon as I learned about Michael Vick’s dogfighting ring. I watched on the National Geographic Channel as almost all his pit bulls were rehabilitated and placed in forever homes, and I was forever changed. These animals that had been so abused and neglected were transformed by love.
Throughout the process, I also learned about the unfortunate reality of breed specific legislation against the bully breeds. Pit bulls overpopulate our shelters and so often are overlooked because of unfair and biased stereotypes. Nearly a million pit bulls are euthanized in America every year.
I decided in 2006 that I would adopt pit bulls and be the change. I wanted an opportunity to show people the loving, snuggly, velvety family dogs that I know them to be.
Both of my dogs have shattered their stereotypes. They are perfect family pets that have been incredibly loving to our children, and to all the families in our neighborhood. I am so proud to be their owners.
I support the Humane Society and the Atlanta Humane Society because of the unparalleled work they do on behalf of all animals nationally and internationally. Their team is dedicated to community outreach and education, and they are responsible for bringing comfort and relief to thousands of animals in Georgia each year. AHS works so hard to debunk pit bull myths and encourage our neighbors to give them the loving home they deserve. Please join me by contributing critical dollars to this incredible organization. Be the change.
