Congratulations!!! You finally found the fundraising page of
Dear friends, family members, colleagues, ex-match.com dates, and strangers,
It's time I put myself to good use. After years of running and working out, I've finally realized at age 45 I will never be in an Olympics (unless holding down bouncing couches becomes an event) nor will I look like David Hasselhoff (every man's dream). So, I have a new purpose for pounding pavement. I am running to raise funds for the Atlanta Humane Society. I plan on running five to six 5ks in 2017 and I will post my completed races on this webpage. Please consider donating - or helping me raise funds - to reach the new donation goal of $1,000.00 (or more) in 2017 (the original goal was $500.00 but we passed that goal already. Too easy)!!!! This money will go a long way. Recently, the AHS had to rescue fifty shelties from a farm and they need help with providing the rescues healthcare.
Here are several ways you can help: 1) you can donate a lump sum; 2) you can donate a buck or two per kilometer of race completed (e.g., $5.00-$10.00/race)--I will send you an updated web link prompting you to donate after every race; or 3) if you prefer to donate to other causes but know of someone who might donate to this charity, you can send him or her the link to my webpage. Please keep in mind this project is supposed to be a low stress endeavor. If donating to AHS is not your thing, then feel free to pass. But I hope you donate. You will get a receipt for your taxes and your donation may help you get into Heaven :) (no promises). Thank you in advance for your generosity and I hope to see your name on the donation list.
Five races completed so far:
Serenbe Trail Race 5k. For this race, we had to run through the woods. The answer to the question "How hard could it be to run up hill on mulch and tree bark?" is "pretty.")
Immaculate Heart of Mary Soaring Eagle 5k. This race started at 7:30am!!!! And, it had some of the steepest hills Atlanta had to offer. I hope I get 'time served' as penance for my next confession..
NCIPC Healthy Challenge 5k. This race was a nice flat run. I completed it in 24:45 but managed to give myself bronchitis for three weeks.
Run Atlanta Midtown 5k. This was a very interesting run. It took place at Piedmont Park. However, we ended up running on the streets around the park rather than running in the park. I guess we need to chalk this up to Atlanta logic.
Candler Park Fall Fest 5k. Finally! Cool air and a flat trail. I beat my time by 5 seconds. So, instead of finishing at pathetic, I finished at pathetic - 5sec.
Warm regards,
J.
