Welcome to My Fundraising Page
The Atlanta Humane Society saves lives every day. I saw this first hand with a dog called Big Daddy.
He didn't have a name when we first met him. He was wagging his tail at cars speeding past, but no one stopped for the giant grey and white mixed breed abandonded on the side of the highway. Will and I pulled over right away. He was shy, but friendly and came wagging up to us. We loaded him into the car and took him to the local county shelter to check for a microchip and wait to see if a family was looking to reclaim him.
This wasn't the first dog I've found on the streets in Atlanta, but he was special. The staff at the county shelter named him "Big Daddy" for obvious reasons and he was fawned over as soon as he came in. He was sweet and happy, and after the stray hold period expired it was obvious he didn't have a family to go back to.
He was also heartworm positive, and that's where the Atlanta Humane Society could really help. Big Daddy's story is filled with twists and turns, but ultimately he was transfered to the Atlanta Humane Society where we began his heartworm treatment and treatment for a case of pneumonia picked up along the way. This costly heartworm treatment won't be a burden to his adopter, either, since AHS covers the cost of treatment for dogs like Big Daddy.
The Atlanta Humane Society provides life-saving medicine, dedicated care, and continued support for all the animals that come through our doors.
